Staffed by the Acting Interim County Administrator, Curry County works collaboratively with many agencies seeking to enhance the economic vitality of Curry County. The  South Coast  Development Council (541-266-9753)  supports economic development and  CCD  (541-756-4101) is the federally recognized and funded Economic Development District for Curry County.  CCD provides technical assistance, project development, grant/project application writing, and grant/project administration services.

Curry County’s economic development efforts also include our promotion of tourism through the Travel Curry Coast website offering  information on visiting, living, and developing businesses in Curry County.  An additional economic development resource in Curry County is the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) funded through Southwestern Oregon  Community College and  major grants from the State of Oregon Business Development Department and Small Business Administration. The center offers no-cost or inexpensive counseling, seminars, customized training, research materials and a host of other services, including:

  • Small Business Management Program in-depth assistance for existing business;

  • Small Business Development Center (SBDC) business startup and resources for new and existing businesses;

  • Workforce Development employee training and professional development;

  • Capital Resource Center assistance for capital and lending resources.

The City of Brookings  and the City of Gold Beach are also available to provide assistance to anyone interested in starting up, expanding, or relocating a business. Each city has an Urban Renewal Plan and can advise on their economic development opportunities.

Neighborworks Umpqua offers community based economic development opportunities in Curry County.  Business start-up and expansions for small independent businesses are offered with assistance in education, training, networking, marketing, and assistance through coaching, workshops and connection with business loan opportunities.
